Ashtanga – Monday, Aug 18- 6:30-8:30 PM – What is the ashtanga practice? Where has it evolved from? What does it teach us about any flow yoga practice and how do we effectively practice this ancient system. The answers to these and more will be revealed in a discussion followed by a traditional ashtanga practice.
Yin Yoga – Tuesday, Aug 19- 6:30-8:30 PM – one of today’s most incredible compliments to any yoga or physical activity. This quiet practice creates freedom in restricted regions of the hips, knees and low back, providing health, range of motion and joy. We explore the foundations of Yin Yoga, meridian theory and how to take this practice into any avenue in your life.
BikYasa Yoga – Wednesday, Aug 20- 6:30-8:30 PM – the perfect combination of hot and flow, this class combines modern music with silence, heat and movement to create one of the most uplifting yoga experiences around. We discuss postures, heat theory and the magic of movement before class, preparing students for the segments and interaction they experience.
Alignment and Adjustments – Thursday, Aug 21- 6:30-8:30 PM – Yoga with adjustments, progress is quick. These are words spoken to Gabriel by his primary teacher when he left him. With over ten years of Thai Yoga experience, 15 years of daily ashtanga practice, Gabriel shares effective, accessible deep and superficial adjustments to a variety of yoga poses. Beginners and teachers welcome as they discover the magic of touch, going deeper into a pose, and how to listen to the body.

About Thai Yoga Massage

The true practice of the art of healing in traditional Thai massage is the compassionate intent of the healer. The Buddhist spiritual practices associated with Thai massage cultivate humility, awareness, and concentration in the healer designed to bring the practitioner to a deeper level of awareness of herself and the client. This compassionate state of being is termed “metta”, which usually translates as “loving kindness”.

During a private session, the receiver may be positioned in a variety of yoga-like positions during the course of the massage, but deep static and rhythmic pressures form the core of the massage. The practitioner leans on the recipient’s body using hands and usually straight forearms locked at the elbow to apply firm rhythmic pressure. The massage generally follows the Sen lines on the body—somewhat analogous to meridians and channels. Legs and feet of the giver can be used to fixate the body or limbs of the recipient. In other positions, hands fixate the body, while the feet do the massaging action. A full Thai massage session typically lasts two hours or more, and includes rhythmic pressing and stretching of the entire body; this may include pulling fingers, toes, ears, cracking the knuckles, walking on the recipient’s back, and arching the recipient into cobra position. There is a standard procedure and rhythm to the massage, which the practitioner will adjust to fit each individual client.
